For a few weeks now, we’ve been hearing talk that a formidable phalanx of Triumph-mounted riders will compete in next month’s 82nd running of the Daytona 200. Well, New Hampshire rider Eli Block has announced that he’ll be one of those riders aboard a Triumph for the “Great American Motorcycle Race,” which is part of MotoAmerica’s 2024 opening event on March 7 through 9.
For Block, who finished fifth in last year’s 100th Loudon Classic and got the double win in Junior Cup at MotoAmerica’s 2023 season-concluding round at New Jersey Motorsports Park, this will be his very first Daytona 200.
“I am super-excited to get out and experience the high banks of Daytona,” Block said. “Since my double-win performance at NJMP, I have a new fire and determination coming into the 2024 season. I’ve been training and riding more than ever, and after the two tests I have had on the Triumph, I am feeling confident and ready for Daytona. The field for Supersport this upcoming season is super-stacked and since this is a one-off ride, I am hoping to make a good first impression in the class. I have no goal in mind and no expectations other than to give it my all. We have two more tests before Daytona just to finalize some changes, since we are making a tire manufacturer change, and make sure we are able to have a good showing. Big thank you to Shawn, Casey Allison, Kevin Griemel, and Eric Block for making this happen, and also my team owner Colin Barton for allowing me to do this one-off ride.”
Block’s Triumph motorcycle will be shod with Dunlop tires for the Daytona 200. Also, as was previously announced, Block will compete in the 2024 Junior Cup Championship aboard a BARTCON Racing Kawasaki, along with his teammate Matthew Chapin.
Block and BARTCON Racing are still looking for additional support for their Junior Cup program, so reach out to them on either Instagram or Facebook if you’d like to help.
