Among the multitude of American motorcycle road racing fans who were beaming with Yankee pride over Garrett’s Gerloff’s podium finish in Sunday’s World Superbike race were MotoAmerica President, two-time AMA Superbike Champion, and three-time 500cc Grand Prix World Champion Wayne Rainey, along with three-time AMA Superbike Champion, 2009 World Superbike Champion, and MotoGP race winner Ben Spies.

Spies called Gerloff to congratulate him right after his win, and Rainey sent him a congratulatory message via WhatsApp. Both legends also talked to WorldSBK about the milestone, in a story that was published on their website.
